ABOUT ME

Hey,

I'm Elijah N'Kai.

A thinker, maker and a do-er.

I’ve been in tune with my creativity all of my life. I should have known that I would be a designer since the time I drew a giant letter ‘A’ on my mom’s apartment wall, with red crayon. Apparently it was so nice that my grandmother praised me for it!

Growing up on the East Coast of the U.S., I loved drawing and creating new superheroes, playing video games, and watching quirky comedies like Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite. As a son of musicians, I naturally got into music production, which led me into creating cover art for myself and others.

Then in college, I started creating film posters for my buddies in the film school, as well as other clubs on campus; clubs related to social activism, protecting the environment and being a first-generation student.

When it was time to find an internship, I found a startup incubator in downtown Ithaca and began working with a team of mostly engineering students to design an app, product packaging and logo ideas for their agriculture tech startup. Post-college, I started designing full-time with non-profit organizations such as Truth Initiative and La Clinica Del Pueblo as well as other clients who were looking for support on their business ventures or side projects.

Nowadays you can find me in Washington, D.C., designing with Disney & National Geographic, and picking up client work in my free time. My favorite pastimes include cooking meals with friends and family, getting outside to move my body and have some fresh air, or just relaxing hard on the couch and checking out the latest games the PlayStation store has to offer.

Thank you for checking out the portfolio. Make sure to check in every now and then for updates. I'm always creating. Peace.
